Dear Mr.President,

What’s more important a war, or our future? If you ask me I would definitely say our future. With global warming and the economy we can’t afford the war. We need to be more eco friendly and we need a tax cut for the middle class, but we don’t need our friends and family dying in Iraq.

Global warming is too serious for the world any longer to ignore its danger or split into opposing factions on it.”- Tony Blair. It’s no longer a question of whether global warming is manmade or not. Global warming is not a myth. Greenhouse gasses are trapping the heat and warming the earth. The polar ice caps are melting. You need to stop this before there are floods, deadly hurricanes, diseases spreading, and animals becoming extinct. A friend of mine once said “if you get a cut your body fixes itself and the cut is not deadly there is global warming but the earth will fix itself.” To that I say, if you get a cut and continue to get dirt and germs in it and do not put a band-aid or antibiotic cream on it then you can get an infection. Like global warming, if we continue to release greenhouse gasses we need to be eco friendly and do everything we can before the earth can start to alter itself. We need to look towards alternate fuel sources because when we run out of resources there are no more. Instead of looking for more oil we need to make hydrogen powered cars and electric cars. When you run out of food you can’t eat and you starve lets not wait until we have no more oil lets figure what to do and put it into action before we starve.

About the economy I completely agree with your plan to give the middle class a tax cut because we need the money to prevent foreclosures and to give small businesses a boost to stimulate the economy. The high class needs to give what they can to those who are less fortunate. There are many foreclosures every day and everyone is losing money you need to help as much as you can. “If we get a government that reflects more of what this country is really about, we can turn the century—and the economy—around.”- Bella Abzug.

I believe in solving problems peacefully without war. Apparently Bush disagrees. The war in Iraq needs to stop soldiers are dieing every day this doesn’t just effect them it affects their friends and family too it also separates soldiers from their families this war has affected too many people for too long it needs to stop. In my opinion the war is no longer needed we can’t afford to stay any longer. Another problem is that the war uses money which is needed the most at this time in the economy. We need to refocus and worry about the future like schools and the economy not the war. “I dream of giving birth to a child who will ask “Mother what was war?””- Eve Merriam. I agree that one day war should be a thing of the past.

I know you will be a great president but I think you need to focus on the economy global warming and the war. You need to keep the future in mind at all times. I agree with your motto of Change because your ideas are so helpful and will solve our problems.

  1. Amanda,

I like that you stated the issues that pertain to you. I appreciate your opinion about global warming. I don’t believe in a “mass destruction” global warming but one that could be prevented. I think you’re right about the middle class tax cut. We need something to support our businesses. Our lives are not going to prosper if we don’t have the money to do so. I also think that the richer should help the more unfortunate or lower class of our economy. I don’t like war either. I think war could be avoided but it is not. The only thing I have a problem with is my children not knowing what a war would be like. That could be extremely scary for a young child who doesn’t know what war is?? What happens if war breaks through? Will our children know how to defend themselves?
